We are inundated with recipes; what to do with food, ingredients, cooking techniques, beautiful food images & smiling faces beside these perfect plates. I bought at least 5 cook books in the past year and can honestly say I have only made 5 dishes if that from theses amazing looking books. They are so inspiring when I sit in Easons, child free for 20 minutes, studying the pages, looking at glossy images of delicious looking food with a thousand ingredients & immediately Im sold. I have romantic ideas of cooking dinner (all the books mention dinner parties, a dinner party in our house would be our children actually eating their dinner). I am tired of looking through my collection of chefs & realising I don’t have half of the ingredients & when I do get time to go and purchase said ingredients, the pot of coconut curry looks NOTHING like the book & I can tell you I am not smiling beside the plate with a perfect blowdry…..Im a bloody basket case realising I have yet again wasted ingredients that neither my children nor the Tall man have/had any notion of eating in the first place.
More waste. New mantra – ‘Keep it Simple’
